WCP Summer Celebration a Big Hit

We had a great turnout for the White Center Promise Celebration this year. Over 1,000 people came out on the sunny Friday of Labor Day weekend to eat, dance, get free backpacks and talk with us about WCP. Also in attendance and providing key remarks were Highline School District Superintendent Dr. Susan Enfield and King County Executive Dow Constantine. We are looking forward to coming together with the White Center community for the White Center Promise Summer Celebration 2012. It’s on Friday, August 31st from 4-6:30pm at Greenbridge Plaza. Federal Promise Neighborhood Implementation Grant Submitted

White Center CDA completed and submitted the federal Promise Neighborhood grant for White Center Promise.  The WCCDA requested $20 million over 5 years to support the infrastructure and programs needed to implement the continuum of solutions developed over the last 18 months.  A huge thanks goes out to all of the individuals and organizations who came together to support this huge undertaking. Resident Advisory Committee Seeking Applicants

We are seeking White Center residents for our new White Center Promise Resident Advisory Committee to provide the WCP Core Leadership Team and staff with information and recommendations to ensure that WCP is constantly listening to and accountable to White Center’s children and families. 2012 Promise Neighborhoods Federal Grant Application Released

The 2012 Promise Neighborhoods grant has been released!  This year WCP will be applying for the implementation grant which is $4-6 million dollars for 3-5 years.  Only 5-7 implementation grants will be awarded, but we hope to be among them.  Last year we came very close to securing a planning grant with a score of 98.33 — we were in the top 10% of over 300 applicants.   You can find out more about the grants and see last years awardees...

WCP at the Promise Neighborhoods Conference
